Ampandra River | Mananjeba
Pachypanchax patriciae was discovered by Paul Loiselle after 2000 and described in 2006 and occurs in two color forms, red and blue. In the north of its range the blue form dominates but as you go south, red fish begin to show up. By the time you are at the southern tip of the range, the red forms dominates. In every case the red and the blue forms are always found together in the same river side by side.

As of 2017 the blue form has been lost in captivity but the red form is well established.
